A Guernsey group have said that they are going to try and tackle the mental health crisis head-on by trying to offer support to others through the simple act of walking. They have said that they want people to feel as though they are not alone and that any difficulties can be faced with others by your side. A man known as Jason Hamon has said that he setup the group after he faced his own mental health issues. He said that he is a volunteer of the Red Balloons charity and that he wants to use his experience to help others. If you are seeking Guernsey healthcare jobs, then you should know that groups like this are making a huge difference to the local area and that it is also helping others to speak out. The walk and talk group are designed to try and challenge some of the many stigmas that happen with those who have mental health issues. They are also trying to raise a lot of awareness regarding mental health while ensuring that people do not feel as though they are alone in their struggles.
He said that he has organised the walks so that they start around 9am on a Sunday and that each one will cover a different part of the area. He is also proud to say that he has an ever-expanding group of people who walk with him. If you are seeking Guernsey healthcare jobs, then you will know that right now there is a mental health care crisis and that people are not getting the kind of support they need. Even though staff are working endlessly, usually it is mental health that is compromised, as there is such a demand for people’s physical health to be looked after. That being said, groups like this are looking to change that.
