Job Summary:
 
The Small Group Home Manager is responsible for managing and supervising a team of Residential Support Workers to ensure the needs of children in their care are met. They must promote equal opportunities and challenge any discrimination based on race, religion, disability, age, gender, or sexual orientation.
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Manage a Small Group Home, adhering to departmental processes, policies, and procedures.
 
Contribute to the holistic assessment and support of vulnerable young people, ensuring their well-being needs are met.
 
Foster communication and partnerships between young people, their families, and relevant agencies for effective care.
 
Responsible for budgetary management and resource allocation for the small group home.
 
Lead the delivery of high-quality evidence-based service provision following relevant regulations and standards.
 
Work with young people, families, and professionals to create care plans and implement the Family Partnership Model.
 
Promote an open culture where children's thoughts and feelings are valued and contribute to service development.
 
Understand Attachment Theory and work to change boundary construction with challenging young people.
 
Be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team to develop strategies for supporting change and development in young people.
 
Encourage young people to attend education, appointments, and meetings to develop routines and self-reliance.
 
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with best practice and policies.
 
Ensure adherence to child protection and safeguarding policies.
 
Comply with health and safety policies and participate in supervision, appraisals, and training.
 
Be part of the Residential Management team, promoting anti-discriminatory practices and leading change.
 
Participate in staff supervision and the 'Out of Hours' On Call Manager Rota.
 
Lead practice and promote the best interests of children and young people in the service.
 
Develop staff to help young people develop a sense of identity and self-worth.
 
Assist and support young people in managing their behavior according to their Individual Positive Behavior Support Plan.
 
Key Criteria:
 
Essential requirements include an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, leadership and organizational skills, experience in leading practice and working with vulnerable children and young people, and a valid driver's license.
 
Desirable qualifications include an NVQ Assessment Award and a Social Work Degree.
