If you work with a nursing recruitment agency or if you work with a nurse agency, then you should know that the specialist network has since been expanded. If you work as carers seeking care jobs then you should also take note that this is going to affect you. More jobs are needed to try and support those who specialise in Parkinson’s and at the end of the day there is a chronic shortage. Parkinson’s UK is the leading charity for conditions such as this and they have conducted an audit into care for the nation. This features a lot of Parkinson’s patients. By the year 2030, the charity have said that there are going to be over 172,000 people who have the condition and that this seems to have risen by over 20% so far. The audit also found that 40% of people who were diagnosed with the condition did not end up getting the information they needed, when they needed it. Not even half of them had access to a speech or language therapist and they also reported issues with them not getting the right medication on time as well.
At the end of the day it is very difficult to see that people are not getting the help that they need but the only way to combat this would be for people to train more. This is not going to happen with the current nursing shortage and at the end of the day, more has to be done but right now it would seem that people who need help the most are missing out. Only time will tell what the future holds but the government probably need to do more, to try and make those who work in carer jobs get more funding.
