COMPLEX CARE NURSE (COMMUNITY)

Are you an experienced and confident Complex Care Nurse looking for flexible, well-paid community-based work in Durham?

We are expanding our team to support a client with complex clinical needs within their own home. This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled nurse who is comfortable working independently and delivering high-quality, one-to-one care in a community setting.

As a lone worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring safety, clinical excellence, and overall wellbeing while promoting dignity, comfort, and independence at all times.

Clinical skills required:

• Tracheostomy care and management
• Ventilation support
• Respiratory care and monitoring
• Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) management
• Spinal care
• Bowel management, including digital stimulation and bowel medication
• Bladder management
• Urethral and suprapubic catheter care
• Administration of medication, including via nebuliser
• Enteral and complex medication management
• Baseline observations and ongoing clinical monitoring

What we’re looking for:

• Minimum 6 months’ UK experience as a Registered Nurse
• Proven experience in complex care, spinal injury, or high-dependency homecare
• Confidence working independently as a lone practitioner
• Strong clinical judgement and ability to respond to changing needs
• Compassionate, professional, and person-centred approach
• Valid NMC PIN and up-to-date clinical training
• DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver safe, high-quality, one-to-one nursing care in the client’s home
• Monitor and manage complex respiratory and neurological needs
• Administer medications and maintain accurate clinical documentation
• Recognise and respond promptly to clinical changes or emergencies
• Promote dignity, independence, and emotional wellbeing
• Liaise effectively with families and the wider multidisciplinary team
