COMPLEX CARE ASSISTANT (COMMUNITY)

Are you an experienced Complex Care Healthcare Assistant looking for flexible, rewarding work in the Newcastle area?

We are growing our community team to support a client with complex clinical needs within their own home. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident and compassionate HCA who is comfortable working independently and delivering high-quality, one-to-one care in a home environment.

As a lone worker, you will play a key role in supporting the client’s safety, comfort, and independence while delivering person-centred care to the highest standard.

Essential HCA competencies:

• PEG feeding and enteral care
• Tracheostomy care and support
• Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) awareness and management
• Spinal care
• Monitoring and recording observations
• Blood pressure (BP) monitoring
• Recognising and managing hypotension
• Medication support (as per care plan and competency)

What we’re looking for:

• Minimum 6 months’ UK experience as a Healthcare Assistant
• Proven experience supporting clients with complex care or spinal injuries
• Confidence working independently in a community setting
• Strong understanding of clinical observations and escalation procedures
• A compassionate, patient-focused approach
• Up-to-date training relevant to complex care
• DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver safe, high-quality, one-to-one care within the client’s home
• Support with PEG feeds, tracheostomy care, and spinal care needs
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs and report concerns promptly
• Assist with medication in line with care plans and competencies
• Promote dignity, wellbeing, and independence at all times
• Communicate effectively with families and the wider healthcare team
