The amount of people who have applied for an undergraduate nursing course in the UK has since dropped by over 16%. This is concerning to say the least, especially if you work in the business of a nurse agency or if right now, you are signed up with a nursing recruitment agency. Those who are seeking care jobs now have more options as there are not as many carers working in the sector and on top of this, there has been a sharp decline. This means that the trend is moving back to what it was before the pandemic. The nursing sector experienced a record year in 2021 but at the end of the day, things have changed quite a lot since.

When you break down the data across the country, you will see that every provider has had a decrease in applicants, and this is especially the case when you compare it to 2022. At the end of the day, it looks like Wales has experienced the biggest drop. They have lost over one fifth of nursing applications and they have also plummeted in terms of sales too. Meanwhile, in England, you have a drop in applicants as well. This is not good to say the least as it just goes to show how much the sector is struggling and how much more has to be done to ensure that things stay level. The nursing sector is struggling so to have a drop in the workforce right now is not good at all. Only time will tell whether or not this situation can be remedied but at the end of the day, it looks like more has to be done to support the nursing sector. If not then it will surely collapse under the pressure of everything that is happening right now.
