Guernsey Group is trying to Tackle Mental Health
A Guernsey group have said that they are going to try and tackle the mental health crisis head-on by trying to offer support to others through the simple act of walking. They have said that they want people to feel as though they are not alone and that any difficulties can be faced with others by your side. A man known as Jason Hamon has said that he setup the group after he faced his own mental health issues. He said that he is a volunteer of the Red Balloons charity and that he wants to use his experience to help others. If you are seeking Guernsey healthcare jobs, then you should know that groups like this are making a huge difference to the local area and that it is also helping others to speak out. The walk and talk group are designed to try and challenge some of the many stigmas that happen with those who have mental health issues. They are also trying to raise a lot of awareness regarding mental health while ensuring that people do not feel as though they are alone in their struggles.
He said that he has organised the walks so that they start around 9am on a Sunday and that each one will cover a different part of the area. He is also proud to say that he has an ever-expanding group of people who walk with him. If you are seeking Guernsey healthcare jobs, then you will know that right now there is a mental health care crisis and that people are not getting the kind of support they need. Even though staff are working endlessly, usually it is mental health that is compromised, as there is such a demand for people’s physical health to be looked after. That being said, groups like this are looking to change that.
Even though Infections are Rising, Hospital Admissions are Not
If you are seeking Ipswich healthcare jobs then you will know how important it is to be aware of all the data regarding Covid. Studies have shown that infections might be rising but it would seem that hospital numbers are not. If you look at West Suffolk, Colchester and even Ipswich, you will see that they have seen a drastic fall in Covid patient numbers. Coronavirus patients have fallen for the third week now even though there is a rise in infections. Figures have shown that there were over 102 patients who had the virus and this means that the infections are going up. That being said, studies have shown that those who work in Ipswich healthcare jobs are doing their bit and they are trying to make sure that people are getting treated. They are also making sure that they do what they can to give people the information they need about the vaccine. Some say that this is having the biggest impact on the numbers but at the end of the day, things could change at any minute.
If the hospital cases do start to rise then this could mean that patients end up not being able to get the care that they need, as there are many people who have left their job due to the vaccine mandate. Interestingly enough though it would seem that more and more people are considering staying on because the government are talking about dropping it. Although those who have left their position might not be eligible to get their job back, those who would have been fired as a result may be able to stay on, and this could steer the NHS through the pandemic as there will be enough people working to support a higher number of patients.
20% of People in Ipswich have Not been Vaccinated
If you live in Ipswich then you should know that one out of every five people have not been vaccinated. The council are currently working with the local community in an attempt to keep on pushing the vaccine and they are also trying to make sure that they are doing what they can to keep on informing people about the benefits. There are even hospitals who are opening up more Ipswich healthcare jobs, in an attempt to increase the amount of staff they have, should another jab be required. At the end of the day it is positive to see that more and more people are coming forward and they are trying to push the jab as much as they can. Those who are currently seeking Ipswich healthcare jobs are aware of the situation and they suspect that people are simply making a decision about what they think is best for them. There is nothing wrong with this and it just goes to show that the public are taking onboard the information around them, even though it may not be from the right sources. The one bit that is a little concerning is that there is a strong amount of cases in those who are under the age of 10. The number of deaths is lower than it was last time and it would seem that the booster is doing a great job so far. They are in a good position right now and if people keep on sticking to the rules and if they keep on trying to do their bit then there should be no problem. Of course, things might have changed and there may not be many requirements in place right now, but getting the booster is still so important and it would seem that more people need to come forward in some counties to prevent even more outbreaks.
Brighton Hospital have Stepped up their Heart Operation Success
If you are seeking Brighton healthcare jobs or if you want to make sure that you are going to a hospital that has a good track record for success, then you should check out Brighton hospital. Surgeons there have been able to step up the amount of heart operations that they can carry out and this all comes down to the pioneering of a brand-new procedure. If you are seeking Brighton healthcare jobs, then you should know that this is revolutionary to say the least and that it shows that there is certainly a place for this kind of work in the future at other hospitals.
The Brighton hospital is the very first in the Southeast to have won funding for the Pascal procedure and they have also worked to repair numerous leaking heart valves. This also means that patients can avoid the need to have open-heart surgery which of course is a very dangerous procedure. David Hikdick-Smith is a prestigious doctor that leads the team, and he has said that this is a huge sign of great things to come in the future. Not many patients want to travel to London, and this is because they are already quite poorly. They didn’t want to be too far from home either and this is very understandable given their current condition. The team and the NHS foundation have said that they have carried out around 20 operations so far, but they do expect to be able to carry out over 50 every year. They have said that before, the procedure could only be done in Manchester, Bristol and of course, London. Now however things have changed, and the procedure can be done just about anywhere so this is great news to say the least.
Brighton Hospitals are Stepping up their Heart Operations after a Successful Approach
Surgeons who are at a Brighton hospital are now trying to step up the amount of heart operations that they are capable of doing using a brand-new approach. The operations thus far have taken place at the hospital in Sussex County Hospital. This has helped them to create way more Brighton healthcare jobs and it has helped them to expand at an astronomical rate too.
Successful Operations
The successful operations to this point have been very encouraging and it has allowed many patients the chance to have a life-saving amount of surgery without them having to travel to London or anywhere else. This has given them the chance to ensure that they provide the best possible service to the people they serve and it has also shown that things are moving in a more positive direction. The Brighton hospital is the very first one in the whole of the Southeast. The Brighton hospital is the very first one to get funding for the famous Pascal procedure as well. This is where surgeons are able to repair a leaking heart valve. Of course, it also means that patients can avoid the need to have open heart surgery which of course, comes with an incredibly high amount of risk. Either way, movements like this have been able to create lots of Brighton healthcare jobs and it has also helped to move the world of hospital care forward. People can now feel assured knowing that they have the help and support they need to get the care they want from their healthcare provider without travelling too far ahead and it also shows that things are now much safer as they will be able to recover closer to home. This is fantastic to say the least.
Covid-19 Staff Absences are Troublingly High
The amount of NHS staff that are off work due to Covid is still troublingly high. Nursing leaders have been warned that the growth of these absences is now slowing down in a lot of the areas. Data has been published and it shows that over 40,000 staff members were off work due to sickness and that people are self-isolating all the time. If you work with a nurse agency or if you work with a nursing recruitment agency then you may have felt as though the pressure has been on. The same concept applies to those who work as carers or even those who are seeking care jobs right now. This new set of data shows a lot of information about staff absences across many different trusts up until, and including the 9th of January. In total, over 80,000 staff members were off work and although this is a lot, it is important to know that this is a decrease on the week before. The numbers have dropped by around 2%.
When you look at the data, you will soon see that staff absences grew by thousands and that this had a devastating impact on the healthcare industry. This is a way smaller growth when compared to the week before but all in all, it has jumped by 60% in one period alone. This is a way smaller growth when compared to just one week before. Although the pandemic looks to be improving right now it would seem that the number of staff absences is decreasing. This is very good news, to say the least, and it goes to show that the healthcare system is working towards a positive direction and that this is going to have major positive consequences in the future.
There is Now a New Support Network for Spanish Nurses
A new association has been launched for any Spanish nurse who is living and working in the UK. They are now trying to seek more and more members to join. If you are working as part of a nurse agency or if you are seeking care jobs or help with careers for your carers pursuit then this will be of special interest to you. Many people who work in a nursing recruitment agency have said that the new association is ground-breaking and that it is named after the nurse who supported a lot of efforts when it came to eradicating smallpox through the simple use of vaccinations, all the way back in the 1800s.
The overall aim of the group is to try and ultimately support Spanish nurses and other healthcare workers who are now settling in the UK. They are also trying to address the decline in recruits who may be coming to the country since Brexit occurred. One of the plans for the association would be a membership programme that is going to induct any Spanish nurses who might be coming to the UK. It is going to link them to someone who is in their area already and that this is going to help with more basic things. He said that it is important to know that this is not just about nursing. It is about where to help them to find an apartment and even to help them to find good places to eat after as well. Many have highlighted the difference that this could make and they have also gone t help settle newcomers as well as saying that right now, people are not getting the kind of support they need overall from their support networks.
Nursing Union has Said Health Staff have to be Exempt from Isolation Rule
If you work as part of a nurse agency or if you are part of a well-known nursing recruitment agency then you will know how important it is to keep up to date on the latest news. Some of the latest news has shown that unions are calling for health staff, including carers, to be exempt from the isolation period. If you are seeking care jobs right now then this will also impact your future career. Sajid Javid has said that the isolation period is going to reduce from seven isolation days down to five. He has also said that updated measures are being debated in parliament right now and that the data all show that two out of three Covid cases are not infectious by the time the fifth day comes around.
When it comes to close care, which includes those who have compromised immune systems, you will soon see that nursing staff have to be confident that they are not the ones putting their patients at risk. From Monday, people who can achieve two negative tests on the fifth day are no longer required to isolate. They do have to wait until the end of the fifth day though, with them being able to leave isolation on day six. The isolation period was initially 10 days but it was dropped to 7 and now finally, 5 days. Mr Javid has said that he is going to expand on the reason behind the reduction, saying that anything that curbs on general freedom has to be a last resort and that the measures have to be in place for absolutely no longer than necessary. He stated that the economy and even education are just two ways that people are being damaged as the result of them having to self-isolate and this is major, to say the least.
Pandemic News: Palliative Care Patients are Collateral Damage
Results have been found from a survey and they have uncovered the fact that a lot of nurses and doctors have indicated that the backlog of patients has led to a lot of premature deaths. The APM has carried out a poll, using people who have come through a nurse agency or in some instances, a nursing recruitment agency to try and understand the devastating impact on those who have an illness. This also included older people, such as carers or those who are working in care jobs. The assessment was done over two months, ranging from December to January. Those who responded were made up of various APM members, including nurse specialists as well as consultants. It also included junior doctors and speciality doctors.
The overall results showed that over 86% of people agreed that people are becoming terminally ill, needlessly, because they are either getting a late diagnosis or because they are experiencing incredible delays.
End-of-life charities, which happen to include Marie Curie have partnered up with APM to try and help them with the survey. They have called for a lot of amendments to be made and they have also asked that the Health and Care bill be debated differently so that NHS teams can provide palliative care services all across England. When you look at the combination of the steep gaps in palliative care to the fact that more and more people are being terminally ill you will soon see that major issues are happening and that it is impossible to carry on this way. More needs to be done to try and make sure that people get the support that they need and this is going to make a difference to the numbers we are seeing now.
More Work Needs to be Done to Achieve Racial Equality
The total representation for the number of black people who work as mental health nurses has increased quite a lot over the years. That being said, they are now in way lower positions, which is not good to say the least. David Harewood has joined Simon Arday, who is a mental health nurse. He has said that there needs to be more support for those who want to try and advance in their positions. At one point, it was only nurses of colour who were given the harder jobs. This could include the jobs that did not require as much compassion and this was traumatic for them to say the least. That is why this webinar aims to discuss all of the inequalities that are happening within the care system while exploring what nurses and mental health staff can do to try and improve the experience of black patients. Of course, if you work in a nurse agency or if you work as part of a nursing recruitment agency then you will know how important it is to ensure that everyone is given a great deal of support regardless of their ethnicity or position. That is why so many people are working hard to ensure that more help is given to those who need it. He also said that he was able to bond with a few nurses and that he was able to empathise with them as well. He said that it was soothing to be able to talk with people of colour and that it was good to have a higher level of enlightenment about the whole thing. It was often nurses of colour who had the harder jobs, and this is not acceptable to say the least. More needs to be done to make sure that this is not the case in the future.
