If you are working in a carers position as part of a nurse agency or if you are seeking care jobs through a nursing recruitment agency, then you should know about the separate nursing pay scheme. Unison have announced that they are going to be developing a robust response and that they are going to separate the pay structure. This comes from a government commitment that has been made to the RCN. They have done this as part of the pay negotiations for England. They want to try and find ways to explore a pay spine that is for nursing staff explicitly. Any move to try and break up the Agenda for Change system would pose a lot of risk. Right now, pay for nurses and other NHS staff is at risk and there needs to be a lot more work done here. People are simply demanding equal pay for equal work but right now this doesn’t look to be the case.

During a meeting with Unison, Christina McAnea said that the healthcare system is looking into a separate spine for nurses and that there is a lot of concern out there right now regarding it. She has said that they have to move to try and break up the system and that this has to be done in a way that would work around equal pay. The last thing people want is to create tension and this is the last thing that people need. It has been explained to the committee that they have to oversee the development of a robust response and that the proposals have to be in place to support everyone. Who knows what is going to happen next but right now it would seem that more has to be done to make sure that people get the pay they need, when they need it.

A report has been launched and it details the abuse of babies. If you work as part of a nurse agency or if you work with a big nursing recruitment agency, then you will understand what a negative report this is. This applies to those who are seeking carers who might be seeking care jobs too. Of course, the report has been discussed with social services as well as the NHS. Nursing staff and the paediatric ward were surprised, and they were also worried that a child had been discharged. The child in question was injured and they were non-accidental. There were three cases where this happened and as the parents behaved well around the infant, they did not suspect anything. The parents said that the infant was dropped while being burped and the child hit their face on the shoulder blade. The nurse did note lack of affection from the father to the baby and the baby appeared to be in distress as well. The issue was that the flag was not put on his file and the baby then went home. The baby was brought to the ED a total of four days later and he had a bloody nose. The parents were ignorant about the injuries and the scan noted a lot of fractures. As a result of this, the police were called, and social services were quickly involved. A lot of people were surprised and worried that the infants were discharged, and they also had concerns about the safeguarding for the child as well. At the end of the day, nurses did trigger an investigation but more has to be done in the future. This is the only way to stop children who could be at risk, from experiencing harm.

Nursing leaders have reflected on the devastating year of war. If you work in a nurse agency or if you work as part of a nursing recruitment agency, then you will know how much this has impacted the sector. If you work in a care job or if you work as carers then this will also affect you. International nursing leaders have reflected on how devastating the impact has been and this has come a year after the war in Ukraine. Tragically it is the nursing association that have suggested that over 106 healthcare workers have died since the Russian invasion. It has been very hard to focus with everything that is going on right now. Howard Catton has met with the president and they did this over video call. They have said that the anniversary has since marked the tragedy but also the accomplishments that have taken place in Ukraine. War is cruel and they have lived in the state for a year. Sometimes they have had zero power and they have also had no internet connection as well. That being said, they have endured. There have been a lot of nurses who have joined the armed forces over the year and the war right now is not over. A lot of people have seen their houses destroyed or at least they have been badly damaged. It’s a common thing for people right now is for them not to be homeless without any belongings. It is their communities that are coming together to try and help people while also ensuring that they are relocated where possible. Only time will tell what is going to happen from now on but the situation is dire to say the least and more has to be done to stop the impact of war in the future.

The Welsh government have taken steps to try and open up pay negotiations with the Royal College of Nursing. This comes after a threat of strikes. The government have said that they are going to implement the NHS pay offer and that it has already been narrowly accepted by unions. Once again the members have sent out a message that is clear. They want to try and bring the UK government back for discussions but who knows if this is going to happen. RCN have said that they are still against the offer and the members have since rejected it at the ballot. Helen Whyley who is the director of RCN has said that the Welsh government have regarded any pay and conditions for the nursing staff to be poor and that more has to be done to give support to those who need it. If you work in care jobs, for carers or even as part of a nurse agency then you will know how important this movement is. If you work as part of a nursing recruitment agency then you will understand again how this pay increase is going to give the lifeline needed to NHS workers.

Now it has emerged that detailed negotiations are going to carry on next week and that social services have in fact confirmed that this course of action is vitally important. There have been more people come out to say that the current deal is not good enough and that more has to be done to try and increase pay for NHS workers. Only time will tell what the future holds for the sector but right now it would seem that people are not happy with the current deal and the government are pushing back.

If you work as part of a nurse agency or if you work with a nursing recruitment agency, then you will know how important it is for new care jobs to be created. That is why carers can now rest assured knowing that a brand-new scheme has been launched. This aims to give social nurses who work in the UK the chance to have a much stronger voice when it comes to commissioning discussions in the local area. The solutions to the problems are those who are working on the front line. Many people just don’t see the point in sitting down and asking them. This kind of innovation has been spearheaded by the chief nurse for social care who works at the department. Deborah Sturdy who is a chief nursing officer has taken the time to speak about the initiative. ICBs have been long established as being part of the reform in England and they have come into force around July. They want to see better joint working between those who really need it and they also want to support those who work in the local area. Right now, there are around 42 of these integrated systems around the country and every one of them is responsible for the commission of NHS services within the area. Nurses who work in social care are really in need of support and they are finally being given it. Only time will tell if this is going to bring about a positive change or if more needs to be done but right now it is great to see that nurses across the sector are being helped out. This has been a long time coming as well, as the sector appears to be struggling when it comes to nurses who are not able to do their jobs due to limitations.

Unison members are now on strike in Liverpool. NHS nurses in England are set for an additional pay offer for 2023. This is going to mark a significant U-turn for the government and it shows that the union strikes are now highly successful. Unison have chosen to announce that they are suspending the strike day so that they can enter and have talks with the government. The government have promised that they are going to offer extra investment for this year and the next. They have said that the decision comes after the Health and Social Care department have confirmed that they are going to do this for those who work in a nurse agency as well as those who work as part of a nursing recruitment agency. If you work for carers or if you seek care jobs then you will know what a big decision this is overall. The government have said that they are not willing to talk about the pay for next year but they do want to focus on the year after. Unions have said all this time that they would be willing to pause strikes if ministers did allow formal talks to take place regarding the pay for the year. Strike plans are going to be resumed if the result is not deemed positive. GMB, a fellow union have also taken steps to suspend their strikes. They are going to join negotiations and they are going to hold them for the staff council as well. There are hopes that this is going to finally result in some agreement being made but right now it cannot be said for sure, what is going to happen. The talks are still continuing as of yet so make sure you follow this story if it is going to impact you.

If you work as part of a nursing recruitment agency, or if you are seeking care jobs for carers then you will know how much strain the NHS is under right now. If you work for a nurse agency then you should know that nurses and colleagues across a number of emergency care services have been reduced to tears because of their working conditions. A lot of people are now experiencing morale injury and a new report has since been published outlining the distress that emergency departments are facing. The report has come as part of a wider investigation which is now taking place and it talks a lot about patient handover to emergency care. This has raised a lot of concerns about the general health and wellbeing of the staff who work for the NHS. It has been warned that the potential impact of staff burnout could have a huge impact on patient safety. Investigators have since interviewed staff across a huge range of emergency services and this happens to include nurses and urgent services.

Staff are crying and showing extreme emotions. They are doing this while they are describing their working environment and the hard decisions that they face. The emergency department staff have spoken about the challenging decisions that they have had to make regarding patients as they have had to queue ambulances up just so that they can get the help they need. Staff have said that this is one of the most challenging situations that they have ever experienced and that staff are also having to discharge patients to places where they are going to receive an appropriate level of care. Of course, this is all very bad and it just goes to show how much strain the NHS is currently under.

The government have been asked yet again to think about their decisions regarding pay negotiations. They are having to talk with the RCN  and they are also discussing the pay disputes as well. The unions have talked with Steve Barclay and they have asked him to open up and discuss the relevant deals in the UK. If you work as part of a nursing recruitment agency or if you work as a nurse agency  then you will understand how much pressure the NHS is under currently.  The same applies to carers and those who are seeking care jobs. They have said that if they do not take action soon then the prolonged NHS strikes are going to have a monumental impact on things and this could really influence things. In the response, the department of Health and Social Care, or DHSC have said that they want to talk with unions and that they want to discuss what is both fair and reasonable in the grand scheme of pay. The RCN have announced that they are going to be cancelling any strikes that they have planned in England and that they are also going to be entering extensive talks with the government. The college has held six strikes in the country since the month of December and they are going to enter discussions regarding the state of improvement that is required. The new deal could well change things up here but at the end of the day it is a sign that more has to be done to ensure that the NHS is running as it should be. Only time will tell if a positive change is going to be made here but right now things are not looking good for Steve Barclay.

The NHS Board in North Wales has been put into special measures yet again by the government. They have cited concerns with the leadership and the culture. Of course, if you work in any kind of nurse agency or if you work as part of a nursing recruitment agency then you will understand how much pressure the NHS is under right now. If you work in care jobs or if you work in a carers role then you will understand how much pressure the NHS is under right now. he RCN have said that the organisation is being put into special measures and that they have informed the board that this is going to take place with immediate effect.

Eluned Morgan has announced on Monday that the university for Betsi Cadwaladr has been put into special measures and that this is going to take place with immediate effect. The chair and the vice chair, along with other members of the board are going to step aside to try and accommodate this. The health board were in special measures in the past and that this is going to be the case again. This is the worst out of the four ratings and the intervention scheme is run by the government. The status means that right now the board is not making the improvements that they have to make and now more action has to be taken. Action is going to be taken to improve the health of the board and it would seem that there is now a lack of consistency. This is within the efficiency, quality and safety of the service. Who knows what the future holds but right now it would seem that more steps have to be taken to ensure that things change for the better.

A nurse is part of the group who have handed a petition to Downing Street. The petition is calling for an enquiry to be done, so that people can find out more about the injustices that people are facing. Black and minority nurses, whether they are part of a nursing recruitment agency or nurse agency, are finding it hard to have their voices heard. The same applies to carers who are seeking care jobs. So far, the petition has around 1,100 signatures and they have urged the government to do an enquiry to find out what issues are currently being dealt with. From racial discrimination to dismissals that might have been unfair and more. They want to try and see what lessons can be learned and they also want to stop further cases from surfacing. A lot of people worry that they are hiding behind the system and that this kind of behaviour cannot continue. The petition included NHS staff as well as the chair of the British Nurse Association for India. The petition was originally created to try and help cases that were happening all across the country. Michelle Cox who is a senior nurse has won a tribunal against the NHS for racial discrimination and it would seem that this is having a domino effect across the sector. The judgement has now been published and it was found that the treatment she received was unfavourable and that she was discriminated against because of her race. She has since been willing to speak up and this is helping people to take the right course of action. A lot of people work in NHS and social care but it would seem that their experiences are only just coming to light, especially for minority groups.
