Victoria Atkins has Now Replaced Steve Barclay

Steve Barclay has now been replaced as being the Secretary of State for both health and social care. If you work as part of a nurse agency or if you are signed up with a nursing recruitment agency and are seeking carers jobs and care jobs then you will know what a huge step this is. Rishi Sunak has said that Victoria Atkins is now at the top role for DHSC and at the top of the agenda seems to be the ongoing industrial action. Mr Barclay has been replaced when Mr Sunak won the leadership election. Ms Atkins has served as the financial secretary for the treasury for quite some time. She did this before her new appointment which is said to be a huge promotion for her. The reshuffle was triggered by the firing of the home secretary. Suella Braverman who, when you look at the last few weeks, has made national headlines because of the comments that she made about the people who are homeless currently. Professor Nicola Ranger has come out to say that she must have her priorities right and that she needs to make sure that she is able to secure funding for the NHS autumn statement. The current settlement seems to be penalising patients as well as those who are on waiting lists. They are now being told that they have to wait even longer for treatment. At the end of the day, more investments have to be made to try and make sure that there is a major improvement here. Victoria Atkins has to raise morale for the workforce and she also has to make some urgent moves so that more improvements can be made going forward. Only time will tell what the future holds right now but so far it’s looking bright.

If you work in a nurse agency or if you are currently signed up with a nursing recruitment agency because you are seeking care jobs or a carers position then you will know what an exciting experience this can be. With that in mind, a trust are now making headlines because a patient has died as the result of lack of staff training. This is especially the case when you look at sickle cell and training. Of course, Pippa Nightingale, who is the chief executive of London NHS has said that she has introduced a number of measures across her entire organisation. She said that they have come to the conclusion that they were not listening to the patients and that this had a long-lasting impact overall. The recognition of all of this had to change though when Tyrone Airey died in 2021. He was diagnosed with Sickle Cell disease and he was admitted in 2021. He complained that he had severe pain in his chest and in his back.

Repeated failings in care have largely been centred around the general management of pain relief. This lead to his death which happened to be death by painkiller toxicity. It has been ruled that the disease should be treated differently across hospitals and that more has to be done to try and help people who have the condition. Pain relief should be handed out to those who need it but with that in mind, it’s important to know that there are bigger drivers for change and that this man’s death could have been prevented if more steps were taken to ensure that he was given the help and support he needed but unfortunately it doesn’t look like this has been the case as he has been struggling.

RCN Nursing Cadet Scheme has been Launched

An RCN nursing cadet scheme has now been launched. If you work with a nurse agency or if you work with a nursing recruitment agency then you will know how important it is to make sure that people have the skills they need to succeed. If you are carers who are seeking care jobs then this can be difficult given the current climate. With that in mind though, there are things you can do to try and make things easier on yourself. This includes the opportunity to take on learning modules while also being able to take advantage of observation placements. This is especially the case when you look at the local healthcare region. At the end of the day, when the cadets have completed the course, they then have the option to submit a portfolio that reflects them as well as being able to gain a completion certificate. They can then be supported in numerous ways as they make a decision about the next step. This includes a level 2 or a level 3 diploma. It also happens to include a foundation degree or an undergraduate nursing career. Hundreds of young people have engaged in the programme which spans across the whole of England. The head of the RCN has come out to say that they have welcomed the launch and that they are delighted to see it extended across Northern Ireland. They have said that this has made a major difference to the lives of young people and that it has also helped to open doors for those who work in healthcare too. If you want to find out more about this or if you want to see how this is going to affect you then the only thing you have to do is keep up to date with the story today.

If you work with a nurse agency or if you work with a nursing recruitment agency because you are seeking carers jobs and care jobs then you will know how much of an impact strikes can have on the workforce. The government have signalled that they want to have another go at introducing pans to allow employers to use agency workers to cover those who might be on strike. Ministers have said that they are going to once again remove restrictions that stop businesses from supplying temporary staff to those who are currently on strike. The High Court have said that they are going to try and repeal the restrictions. The government has come out to say that they are going to launch a consultation and that they are going to try and remove the restrictions in due course.

The general secretary of the Trade Union Congress has come out to say that recruitment bodies have made it clear time and time again that they do not want their staff to be used as political pawns and that more has to be done to help those who are on strike. That being said, it looks like ministers are not listening here and something has to be done. Even though the plans seem irrational, one thing to take note of is that this is an act of a desperate government and that they are doing everything they can to distract from a somewhat appalling record.

Something has to change here because if it doesn’t then this is a strong indicator that things are going to keep on spiralling. At the end of the day, this just goes to show how much more has to be done to support the current nursing industry.

If you are seeking care jobs or if you work with carers on a regular basis then one thing you may be interested in knowing is that nursing recruitment agency providers and those who work in a nurse agency have been asking to create a workforce plan. One thing to know about all of this is that a Labour government would actually take steps to modernise the NHS and they would also publish a plan that would cover social care. The shadow health secretary has come out to say that this could mean great things for the future. On the final day, the Labour Party have come out to say that they plan on transforming healthcare and that they want to win the next election so they can make the best outcome for the NHS. They have said that it’s not in Labour’s interest to abandon the principles of the NHS and that they do have plans to try and make it a funded service where possible. At the end of the day, what nursing staff need is to see a full reform. They need to have a bigger emphasis on prevention and they also want to give a higher standard of patient care. Only when these needs are met, can they begin taking steps to a bigger and brighter future. It’s been argued that the NHS needs to be faster when it comes to responding to people and that they are currently putting too much focus on hospital care.

If they stop thinking about helping those who need help with their late diagnosis then this will help them to get a bigger and better result out of the people who they are trying to help. They may even be able to prevent some issues, which would be ideal.

The Isle of Man nursing strikes have now been paused as a new deal if being offered. If you work with a nurse agency, then you will know what an impact this has had on carers as well as those who currently work in care jobs. If you work with a nursing recruitment agency, then you will know what a huge deal this is. Two days of strikes have been scheduled and the end result is to try and get a better pay deal. The offer will mean something a little different to voting members as a lot of it comes down to their pay and the banding circumstances that are present. At the end of the day, Manx Care have come out to tell the Nursing Times that they could not enhance the offer anymore as they have already given a 6% wage rise for that year. A spokesperson has come out to say that they are exhausted from having to find funding for their pay offers and that they are putting in a lot of work to try and make things suitable as they are. The offer was originally called an insult and the union members rejected it almost instantly. Strikes were held during September and July but at the end of the day, more walkouts were said to happen around October. Only time will tell what the future holds with this but right now it seems that more has to be done to make sure that nurses are given the help and support that they need. If you want to find out more about this then make sure that you follow the government updates and that you also make sure that you take note of the latest advancements regarding the matter.

If you work in a nurse agency or if you currently work with a nursing recruitment agency then you will know that right now, there is a dire situation regarding beds. Even those who work with carers and who are seeking care jobs know about it. The Deputy Director for nursing has come out to say that there are in fact some challenges that are being faced right now and that more has to be done to try and address them. Kate Pye who has spoken out at the conference has said that her team do have some priorities and that the state of healthcare has to be looked at in a much broader sense. At the end of the day, it doesn’t take much to tip the service over the edge. The event is being run by Roald Dahls Charity and they bring together children and young nurses who have positions that are being sponsored by the charity. Ms Pye has come out to say that right now, there is a strong increase in demand and that young people’s nursing services really are in need of more support. Children who have complex needs have doubled and there is also an increase in children who need disabled care too. Ms. Pye has also come out to say that the number of mental health admissions is on the rise. This is especially the case when you look at people who are aged between 17 and 19. This has a huge impact on the workforce as you have people who are self-referring and you also have an increase in child mortality which is not good to say the least. More has to be done here to make sure that people get the help they need.

A barrister has been appointed to try and look deeper into the allegations against the NMC. If you work with a nursing recruitment agency, or as carers seeking care jobs then one thing you need to know is that a lot of the allegations are serious. If you are with a nurse agency, then you should know that they are looking into how whistleblowers have been treated over the years. The NMC today have announced that they have appointed Omambala KC to carry out the investigations. They also want to try and give support to the nursing regulator over the coming months. Of course, at the end of the day, an external investigation has to be done so that people can find out more about what has happened while making sure that people’s concerns are responded to. A series of articles that have been published have said that the NMC is failing to handle things properly and that more has to be done here. They want to give more support to nurses who might have been accused of sexual abuse as well as racial discrimination.

At the end of the day, a diverse group of colleagues is being put together to help form part of the culture and they are also doing what they can to share their own experiences. Suggestions are being put together to try and suggest things with the regulator’s council. From there, it seems that an independent investigator is going to be appointed to carry out the rest of the investigation. At the end of the day, they have said that they are sorry about the culture and the regulatory decisions that they are having to make. They do understand that they need to have a rigorous and transparent response to the concerns that they have too.

A New Toolkit is Going to Stop NHS Suicides

The NHS England workforce has now launched their strategy to try and stop people from committing suicide in the NHS. If you currently work in the NHS then you will know how important mental health support is. The unfortunate reality if you work in a nurse agency or if you work in a nursing recruitment agency is that people are not given the help that they need. This is leading to carers and those who work in care jobs, committing suicide. The toolkit has been created to try and embed good practice across the healthcare service. This is going to pull together resources from well over two dozen support services. It is also going to mean that mental health charities are able to support staff who may have had a colleague die as the result of suicide.

When you look at the resources for organisational leaders, you will see that the toolkit offers guides for managers. It tells them how to respond to people who are showing warning signs and it also helps them to spot people who may be at risk. Dame Ruth May has come out to say that the resources are ideal at helping to mitigate staff as well as helping them to get the support they need across the board. The challenges that the NHS is facing right now are great, and some may even say that they are relentless. That being said, more has to be done to make sure that people are given help if they feel overwhelmed to stop suicides from happening going forward. This is the only way to make sure that people are not feeling like suicide is the only way out for them, and that there is in fact a light at the end of the tunnel.

Public Health Nurses have to Lead Change

If you work with a nurse agency or if you are signed up with a nursing recruitment agency right now then you may be interested to know that it is in fact pubic health nurses and carers who are going to be the ones who are leading change. Those who work in care jobs have to do what they can to try and help others and they also need to take steps to deliver on policies that improve the health of the nation. Jamie Waterall who is holding the leadership role currently has come out to say that there has to be a greater level of investment right now and that this is especially the case when you look at public nursing. He would like to see an established workforce plan for the public healthcare sector because if he doesn’t then this could mean dire things for the future.

Professor Waterall has said that the population is currently being faced with a lot of adversity and uncertainty. When you look at recent years, as well as the pandemic, it’s safe to say that there is a huge cost of living detriment. Challenges have to be used so that people can seek out opportunities. That being said, that is very difficult to implement in this current day and age. Now is the time to make a change but it is difficult to do this when we live in a time of adversity. Nursing schools and nursing families are no better example of how things can work across life courses.

Of course, things are changing quite rapidly but at the end of the day, more has to be done to give nurses the support they need. If this doesn’t happen then things could start to regress, which is the last thing people need.
