Sexual Health Services are Finding it Hard to Make Ends Meet
If you work as part of a nurse agency or if you are looking to go through a nursing recruitment agency for work then you should know that a lot of sexual health services are at risk of being overwhelmed right now. A lot of this comes down to the monkeypox outbreak as it sweeps the country. Even those who work in a carers position and those who are seeking care jobs may find that there are more positions available within this sector. Many other countries, all across the globe have seen a huge spike in cases and they have also seen a lot of outbreaks since the first case got announced.
It is important to know that anyone is able to contract the virus but data has shown that a lot of the cases are in bisexual, or gay communities. It is also common with men who have sex with other men. It is not an STI but it is possible for it to be passed on through contact during sexual intercourse. It is also possible for it to be passed on through touching someone’s clothes. In an interview, the BASSH has come out to say that it looked like the cases were doubling every 20 days or so and that the organisation were somewhat worried about what was to come. The last thing that we need is another endemic but at the end of the day, there just aren’t enough staff to manage the cases as they stand right now. The lack of capacity and lack of staffing has a huge part to play here and it would seem that other core sexual health services are being pushed out more and more as time goes on. This has to be dealt with as soon as possible.
A New Online Platform is Helping Nurses to Challenge Racism
If you work with a nurse agency or if you have ever found work with a nursing recruitment agency then you may know that racism can be a bit of an issue. A nursing professor has tried to change this by giving access to those who work in care jobs, and those who work as carers the chance to make a positive change. In the program you will be given very complex training based on examples of racism and you will also be seen to by dedicated and experienced healthcare staff. You will also be given links to policies and you will be given research papers and support group information. There is a very specific section for those who work as nurses and for those who work as midwives as well. The idea is to try and prevent instances of racism against staff and patients as well.
The project is backed by the funding from the HEE, or the Health Education England organisation. It is being led by Professor Winifred Eboh and he is a registered nurse and a professor. He works at the Essex University. He has come out with a statement saying that discrimination has placed the health and the general welfare of staff at risk, and that social environment risk has increased since. All professionals need to try and challenge racism when they can, especially in the workplace and that is why Dare to Care are now trying to work on some of the many areas that require improvement. As well as midwives and nurses, it is important to know that they have full dedicated sections on the platform and this is designed to collect resources from dentists, doctors and even occupational therapists who work within the nursing sector.
Nurses in Scotland are Being Balloted over the 5% Pay Rise Offer
If you look at any nurse agency or if you work with a nursing recruitment agency right now then you may be aware that trade unions across Scotland have now started to ballot nursing staff that are in Scotland over their pay and they have also started to explore a bit of their appetite over industrial action. The RCN chose to open a ballot to their members who were working in the NHS in Scotland and they have suggested that they reject the award for 5% extra pay. They are going to ask their members that they would be willing to do in terms of industrial action and they have also asked them if they would be willing to take any strike action as well. Other unions have launched their ballots and they have recommended that their members reject the ballot as well. Unison have suggested that the 35,000 members reject and instead opt for industrial action instead.
If nursing staff were to show support for things like industrial action based on the ballots then it would seem that unions have to do another ballot before any kind of action, or even industrial action can take place. The poll has been carried out by YouGov and they have found that a lot of people, nearly 50% would support carers who have care jobs in rejecting the proposal so that more favourable terms can be achieved later on. Who knows what the future holds but right now it would seem that more has to be done to make sure that people are given the help and support they need in regards to nurses and to also make sure that they are getting a fair level of treatment in terms of the work that they do.
A Green Leader Scheme has Opened up for Nursing Applicants
Applications have now launched for a brand-new leadership programme. This is fully designed for the independent sector and it is designed to help those who have a true passion for things such as sustainability. If you work in a nurse agency or if you are part of a nursing recruitment agency then you should know that this has been called for quite some time. Those who work in the carers sector and those who are seeking care jobs should also be taking part in the new programme.
The new programme is, first of all, going to focus on things like sustainable healthcare. This is going to be the case in the independent sector and it is going to require nurses to try and support environmental sustainability where possible. At the end of the day, some believe that this is not being done enough and that quality improvements have to be made to ensure that as much is done as possible to give support to those who need it. Out of the 20 places right now, it would seem that 10 are for those who are currently being employed by Nuffield Health and that 10 are for nurses who are working for other NHS providers.
Greta Westwood who works for the FNF has come out with a statement saying that there are some incredible nurses who work right now in the independent sector and that they want to urge anyone who may be interested in things such as Green Healthcare Leadership to come forward and apply. If you are interested in this then make sure that you get signed up so you can make the most out of your time in healthcare, and so you can support a very positive movement.
Nurses have Been Given the Power to Now Issue Fit Notes
If you work for a nurse agency or if you work for a nursing recruitment agency then you may have heard that nurses now have the ability to issue fit notes. This is ideal for those who are looking to branch into the carers sector or even those who are seeking care jobs. Nurses who work in England, Wales or even Scotland are now able to issue fit notes for their patients when it comes to needing time off work due to their illness. The move has since been hailed as being a super positive step for the RCN and some have said that this chance has been required for quite some time.
These kinds of notes are usually given to a patient if they have been off work with an illness for over a week, and they need some kind of evidence from their employer if they want to take further time off. It is also important to know that the notes give advice on how a certain individual can be supported during their time as well, if they were to make the return to work. From Friday, the 1st of July, it would seem that occupational therapists and even physiotherapists are going to have the power to certify the document as well as making sure that they are fully supporting and implementing the new policy. This is especially the case for e-learning amongst staff members. With the new change, it would seem that the Health Education England has chosen to implement the new policy and this move is going to help patients get the advice they need regarding their work-related absences.
This is a huge step forward for care and it just goes to show how much support like this is needed.
Nurses are Going to be Worse-Off by Thousands, the Union have Warned
If you work in a nurse agency or if you have plans to try and apply to a nursing recruitment agency then you should know that there is going to be a huge cost of living crisis. This is going to impact everyone from carers to those who may be seeking care jobs right now. Of course, a lot of unions have chosen to reiterate their calls to see if it is possible to get an above-inflation rise for any NHS staff who may be working. A brand-new analysis has been launched and they have found that the 3% payment settlement is just not enough. Unions have also said that the real data shows that nurses are down £5,200 when you compare things to 2010 and this is after a standstill of wages.
The body which actually represents trade unions across England and Wales have warned that if the government does decide to go ahead with the pay deal then this would mean that inflation is going to have an even more dramatic effect. It may even mean that nurses are going to be £1,600 worse off this year and this is not good to say the least. The TUC have since warned that for decent pay rises to happen, it is important for those who work in public services to have their cost-of-living earnings matched and that a lot of this has been overlooked, purely because of wage freezes. Frances O’Grady who is the secretary for TUC has come out to say that all of the key workers who are part of the NHS have all helped to get the country through the pandemic but right now a lot of people are at breaking point and some are struggling to get food on the table as well.
A Community Nursing Leader has Written to Sajid Javid over Fuel Concerns
If you work in a nurse agency or if you are concerned about the rising cost of fuel when trying to attend your nursing recruitment agency interviews, then you are not alone. Those who work in carers jobs and those who work in care jobs are now worried that they cannot get to work. In a letter, the QNI’s executive has outlined some concerns that they deem to be serious, regarding the cost of rising fuel and the impact that this is having on nurses. At the end of the day, if the demand to deliver more care to those who need it cannot be met because nurses cannot afford fuel then this will have a knock-on effect.
In the letter, Dr Oldman has said that QNI have recently talked about the issue, and they have also gone as far as to launch a program to help those who may be experiencing financial difficulty. They want to make sure that people are able to get the fuel that they need for work, and they know that the cost-of-living situation is getting gradually worse. There have been well over 1,000 applications for the grant, and this has been done in 48 hours. The QNI have chosen to close the scheme and now it would seem that the available funds and the general capacity to try and deal with the applications has since been exceeded. Dr. Oldman has given a warning, saying that currently, the fuel situation is a deterrent when it comes to nurses taking up roles within the community. She went on to add that right now, a lot of people are under pressure and there are other gaps that need to be filled, given the growing demand for services.
Mental Health Nursing Report Warns that Risks are Being Lost
If you work in a nursing recruitment agency or if you are currently part of a nurse agency, then you will know how important it is to make sure that everyone is being taken care of. This is even the case when you look at carers and those who work in care jobs. Unfortunately, though it doesn’t look like this is going to be the case. A new review has launched, and they have warned that mental health nurses are being lost because not enough action is being taken. The mental health nurses who are working in the industry right now have lived experiences when it comes to mental health and the use of services in general.
When it comes to setting the challenges that nurses are facing right now it would seem that the vacancy rate is far too high amongst nurses who have the right level of training and there is also a huge number of nurses who are leaving the workforce too. If changes are not being made right now, then it is concerning to see that numbers may go on to impact the industry more than they are right now. The report has welcomed many applicants when it comes to the study of mental health and it has also helped to flag issues, such as the number of mental health nurses who are working is now lower than it ever was.
This is not good, to say the least and it shows that something has to change. If not, then this could have major ramifications for the future. Of course, only time will tell what the future holds but right now it looks like things are reaching critical levels and nurses themselves are starting to suffer as a result which is not good.
International Nurses Day is Going to Demand Real Investment
When you look at those who work as part of a nurse agency or if you look at the nursing recruitment agency sector in general you will soon see that it is crying out for more investment. This is especially the case when you look at carers and care jobs. The celebration of nursing professions, in general, has been great and it has also been led by the ICN as well. Every year, there is a theme and now it is trying to make sure that the nursing industry is going to get more investment so that it can be in a position of respect. Howard Catton who is an executive over at the ICN has told the Nursing Times that the pandemic has shown us how important it is to make real investments and that the profession of nursing is no different. The nursing industry has to stay ahead so that global health can be protected and so the well-being of others can be kept safe too.
If you look at the nursing shortage then you will soon see that it is a huge threat to public health and that the issue has to be addressed as soon as possible. The ICN is going to be releasing a report about this and they are going to be trying to figure out which steps have to be taken to make sure that patient rights are respected. The RCN has said that they are going to be marking the day with their very own campaign and that it is going to have a hashtag to try and help it to get some steam on Twitter and social media. The hashtag is going to be #BestofNursing so keep that in mind if you want to stay updated.
Campaign Aims to Help Indian-Trained Nurses to Overcome Barriers in the UK
It is a known fact that nurses who come through a nursing recruitment agency in India, or those who are pursuing care jobs or carers jobs are facing a lot of difficulty in the UK. if you come through a nurse agency then you will know how hard it can be sometimes to achieve the right level of registration when it comes to working in the UK, especially when you look at the fact that these same nurses have been living in the UK and even working here for several years. The nurses often do have the status of being a British citizen but it would seem that they are stuck in roles that they would be seen as being unregistered. They are also getting paid for things that do not match their skill set, as they are trained beyond this. The problem is that they are not able to pass the language tests that come with the various exams.
When you look at the general plight of the nurses, you will soon see that it is Dr Pradeep who is leading the charge. She is the coordinator when it comes to liver transplants and she is also a lecturer. She works at the University of Salford and she has been collaborating with Peter Mount. They know how difficult it is to find work in the UK and ever since language testing was introduced, it has been difficult for people to find the right kind of work. Although having a good understanding of the English language is imperative, it would seem that more needs to be done to try and make sure that people are given the right amount of support when you look at the reason why they are not passing the test in the first place.
