Nursdoc have a 6 month position (which can be extendable on the island of Guernsey.
We pay for accommodation and travel and also pay into limited company account.

1. To work as an independent reporting sonographer performing exams to a very high standard, formulating stand-alone, concise and accurate reports.
2. Communicating highly complex/sensitive/contentious results to the appropriate clinician(s) and also to patients directly.
3. Tailoring the gained scan information to the appropriate level of the recipient in a clear and accurate method often needing a high degree of empathy.

5. Independently prioritise clinical workload and organise such from a variety of referral pathways to meet the needs of the service user.
6. Follow policies, procedures and protocols relating to and underpinning the ultrasound service in line with guidance from Royal College of Radiologists and College of Radiographers.
7. The post holder will be primarily based in the radiology department at the PEH and will also rotate to the neighbouring island to run an independent ultrasound service at the Mignot Memorial hospital, Alderney. This out of hospital work will involve solitary working conditions with no immediate radiological support/guidance.
8. You will independently undertake and report all examinations that you are competent in, for example obstetric scanning including first trimester screening, dating scans with Nuchal Translucency accreditation, anomaly and high risk obstetric scans, abdominal, small parts, renal, gynaecological, transvaginal, paediatric, neonatal hips, neonatal heads, DVT’s and preferably also carotid Doppler examination.
9. In addition to being knowledgeable in all aspects of ultrasound you will be expected to deputise the Superintendent Sonographer and oversee the day-to-day organisation in ultrasound in their absence.
10. You will be responsible for up-dating and expanding own ultrasound skills and maintenance of CPD.
11. To participate in the governance of the department in areas including Risk management, health and safety, research and audit activities.
12. Work as part of a team providing a high quality ultrasound service within the H.S.S.D.
13. To educate, train and mentor other healthcare professionals/radiographers/student sonographers to successfully complete a master’s level post graduate diploma in Medical Ultrasound.
14. To perform and present at audit, and provide professional education/lectures for other health care professional groups including clinicians/GP’s.
1. DCR or BSc in Diagnostic Radiography.
2. Diploma of Medical US or Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound at Masters level (120 M level credits). (Paid at Guernsey AFC Band 7)
3. Evidence of post qualification study and career development/managerial experience.
4. HPC Registration (if appropriate).
5. SOR Membership.
6. Post qualification experience in abdominal, small parts and obstetric ultrasound, paediatric hips and some Vascular Scanning.
7. Experience of mentoring and assessing junior staff to M level qualification.
8. Demonstrable evidence of continued Audit and CPD.
9. Effective leadership skills.
10. Ability to work under minimum supervision.
11. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
12. Ability to delegate.
13. Assertive, influencing and negotiation skills.
14. Keyboard/ IT skills.
15. Act as a role model.
16. Ability to motivate and support others in clinical practice and training.

1. Must be state registered (HCPC) if holding the professional title ‘radiographer’.
2. Must possess specialist knowledge and expertise through comprehensive accredited theoretical & practical training at Masters Level (i.e., DMU, Postgraduate Diploma (Pg Dip) or equivalent M-level qualification in Medical Ultrasound).
