Description
To assist in the provision and further development of an effective Multi Agency
Support Hub (MASH) service for children and families within the Bailiwick by
working closely with other agencies, professionals and members of the public
and also to assist in the provision of an effective Children and Families Social
Work Service. This will include undertaking child protection investigations,
early help assessments and work with children in need, children in need of
protection and children subject of Care Requirements in accordance with the
Children (Guernsey and Alderney) Law 2008.
This post will rotate between the MASH and the Locality Teams.
The Post holder will be expected:
To actively participate in multi-agency information sharing, risk assessments
and decision making discussions within the MASH.
To respond to child protections concerns and undertake single and joint Child
Protection Investigations when required.
To complete Early Help Assessments identifying the most appropriate
interventions to support children and their families.
To undertake tasks requested by the MASH Practice Manager.
To hold a caseload of child in need, child protection and care requirement
cases.
To assess the needs of children and families using theoretical frameworks in
order to produce, appropriately monitor and review child’s plans (single
assessment). These will be within agreed timescales according to need.

To undertake short term or longer term specific pieces of work as directed
following the completion of child’s plans or as a result of child protection
registration.
To respond to child protection concerns via the implementation and
monitoring of robust child protection plans and undertake any assessment or
investigation as required by the team manager on any allocated cases.
To ensure that child protection and child in need procedures are adhered to
and provide monthly governance information on statutory visits, core groups
and child protection plan reviews.
To provide effective evidence based interventions to families where children
are in need of protection and to present such cases to child protection
conferences.
To present cases to and attend court and the Child Youth and Community
Tribunal as required.
To prepare reports and to represent Children’s Health and Social Care both
orally and in writing in an appropriate manner at all times and make long term
plans for permanence for those children who require such intervention.
To prepare assessments,statements and care plans for Court and required give
evidence in Court.
To work in partnership with parents, colleagues and other agencies ensuring
the child is central to any process.
To ensure Health and Social Services policies, procedures and legislation are
adhered to.
To actively participate monthly supervision sessions with line manager
To participate in a duty back up rota system for cases held within the teams.
To participate in the out of hours social work rota.
To undertake any other duties as may be determined by the Head of Service,
Children and Family Community Services, from time to time.

Prior to commencing employment, all HSC appointments are subject to the
following: -
A satisfactory Police Check.
An HSC Client Record Check.
A satisfactory Occupational Health Report.
Submission of a valid Right to Work Document.
Submission of an original Birth Certificate or Passport.
Submission of original documents of any relevant qualifications

1. Social work degree or equivalent, and a good general education.
2. Must hold current registration with HCP
