Healthcare staff and the public need to be more educated on the signs of sepsis. Those who work in a nurse agency or even as part of a nursing recruitment agency will understand how devastating this can be, and even how many lives could be saved if certain changes could be made.

Around 1,000-4,000 children die of sepsis every single year. The problem is that there is not a universal or validated system to help people identify the deterioration in children. Of course, Dame Donna Kinnair who is the executive of RCN has stated that sepsis happens in a child so suddenly and that it is more than possible for you to see a child and think that they have a common cold. You may even send them home as a result, but within an hour, they come back with sepsis and all of the symptoms are very defined. The problem here is that when they have developed all of the symptoms, there is no way that they can come back from this, so it is important that this is sorted out as soon as possible.

Nurses are going to be calling for a nationwide rollout for the new system and they are also going to enable any signs of deterioration too. A patient’s condition needs to be identified and they also need to be acted on quickly too. Elements of the scheme are going to try and monitor a child’s condition and they are also going to check the blood pressure, saturation of oxygen, temperature and heart rate. Nursing staff at the college are now going to be hearing from sepsis survivors and they are also going to try and make sure that more is done about this. They are also going to try and train nurses to a much higher degree.

A report has been published by three thinktanks for the NHS. They are calling for a huge expansion when it comes to nurse training in the country of England. They are trying to make sure that they stop the healthcare crisis from getting even worse. The measures have been outlined by numerous experts and they are also working hard to make sure that more is done about this.

The report has been titled the Closing Gap and it does highlight that if no decisive action is taken about the NHS workforce plan then any shortages will double, and this will have a huge impact on the goals that are present. Dame Donna is the acting chief for the RCN and has stated that this should cause some level of alarm. Ministers need to be aware of the care of their patients and they also need to make sure that they are not compromised by these kind of shortages at all. The Fund our Future campaign is now trying to admit that and they are straining every sinew as well. The care of these patients is far too compromised by these shortages and if more is not done about this then this could really have a huge impact on the industry as we know it. Donna has stated that she thinks that it’s great that the thinktanks are echoing the argument and that the supply of nurses really cannot be increased unless you were to have some more funding. If you work in a nurse agency or in a nursing recruitment agency will understand this.

The report has rightly pointed out that if you were to increase the amount of students that are in education then this would require a huge expansion and it would also cause for people to need more clinical placements too. Nursing professionals are not in a position to provide this at all.

Action by certain members of the RCN could really help to secure the workforce crisis that is happening right now. The College welcomed the ambitious direction, but they have also said that when they deliver the plan, they need to be very clear and they also need to be accountable as well. The population’s needs have to be met, and they are now seeking views to try and change the legislation. They say that they are going to try and help deliver the plan and they also need to make sure that they demand changes to the right proposals. Clinical commissioning groups need to have a legal obligation to understand the needs of the workforce. This even applies to those who are a member of a nurse agency or even part of a nursing recruitment agency.

Clinical commissioning groups need to have a legal obligation to try and plan out the workforce and they also need to hold corporate accountability too. This needs to be based on evidence and it also needs to take into account the judgement of any senior nurses.

Patricia Marquis is the RCN director and she believes that they have a window of opportunity to try and make a huge difference here, and that no improvements can be made at all unless you address the shortage of the staff. She has stated that you need to speak loudly if you want your voice to be heard and this is very good advice to say the least. Action needs to be taken against the workforce crisis that is happening right now and as time goes by, it would appear that nothing is being done about this at all. This is not good news to say the least, but if RCN members continue to campaign then progress might be made.

RCN is Welcoming a New Indemnity

The RCN is welcoming a state-backed indemnity. This is a scheme that is going to provide cover to nursing professionals who are working in the NHS. The clinical negligence scheme is going to provide cover to all staff who are working in the NGS and even in England as well. This is going to include practice nurses, self-employed nurses and even trainees too. All nursing staff don’t need to make any payments towards the scheme and they don’t need to register either. Those who work in or even out of hours will also be included.

The new scheme is going to cover any negligence liabilities that may arise from act or even the inability to act. It is going to protect those GP services who relate to diagnosis, care or even treatment. If this results in personal injury or even loss to the patient, then they more than have the right to be covered. Roz Hooper is the RCN head for legal services has stated that the introduction of the health scheme is very important, and it is in fact a welcome development. It is something that they have been calling for quite some time and it also means that NHS patients can now be sure to take out the right standard of cover.

Over the years, the RCN has worked hard to try and make sure that they are willing to support and help those who work in a nurse agency or even in a nursing recruitment agency. Employers often make mistakes regarding their indemnity cover and sometimes staff are left out of this cover altogether. This is not right at all, but if more is done to try and prevent this then everyone will be happier as a result. They will also be given the support that they need.

The RCN have stated that the lessons that were learnt in the Francis report are now being long-forgotten about. This is even the case when you look at the opportunities that are present to try and increase the staffing level for nurses. The comments were made in a response to a brand-new study, and this is especially of note to those who work in a nurse agency. If you do work in a nursing recruitment agency, then you will also know that the NHS is severely understaffed and that now patient lives are being put at risk as a result. Something seriously needs to change if hospitals want to try and face the major challenges that are being put in front of them.

The director for the RCN has stated that patients are troubled and that the public need to be warned about the deadly risks that are being run at the moment. The NHS have one out of every five posts vacant right now. The report is right to try and raise some concerns about the increased numbers for support staff, and these need to be matched by rises in the amount of registered nurses that are present too. If they want to try and keep the appropriate mix of skills in a care setting, then this is of special importance. The RCN is trying to call for the government to commit to brand-new law for England and they are also trying to keep staffing levels safe with the effective care that is present. A huge investment is needed in order to keep the NHS on track with the long-term plan that they have and if this is not done soon then it’s safe to say that more and more people will suffer as a result.

Philip Hammond may have missed an opportunity to try and give nurses the education they need and the money as well. His statement contained no words about any nursing bursaries. The government are going to be waiting to see what kind of funding is available from the nursing workforce plan. The government are now delaying any guarantees until later on in the year. The number of students taking nursery courses has dropped significantly and applications have fallen by over 30%. This is staggering to say the least, and it is safe to say that those who work in a nurse jobs or even a nursing recruitment agency will know this more than anyone.

The acting RCN chief has stated that nurse education has undergone a lot of changes, and that funding limitations have been imposed. If the amount of applications continue to fall then this will have a huge impact on the future and it will also make it much harder for people to invest in the industry. The chancellor has also announced that there is a timescale for the comprehensive spending review. This is going to be linked with the autumn budget and that more announcements are going to be made in the future. The government doesn’t seem to be recognising the data or even that the clock is ticking down. Nurse numbers are going to be stretched so thin that the patient will become unsafe. This is shocking news to say the least but before more funding can be secured, there needs to be more research done to try and find out what is really happening. Right now, only time will tell what is going to be happening but it’s safe to say that more needs to be done about this.

Thinktanks

A report has been issued and it has been distributed by three major thinktanks. They have all stated that there needs to be a radical expansion when it comes to nurse training, and that this needs to be done in an attempt to try and stop the health and care workforce from getting any worse. The measures have been outlined by experts and they have come from the Nuffield Trust as well. Others have come from the King’s Fund, and even the Health Foundation. The report is called Closing the Gap and it highlights the fact that if no decisive action is taken about the workforce then this could cause even more nurse shortages to happen. RCN executive Donna Kinnair has come out to say that the staggering numbers are going to cause some degree of alarm to those who work in a nursing recruitment agency or even in a nurse agency.

Nursing staff are going to be the first people to admit that even though straining is going to happen, patients are going to be compromised by some of these shortages. This is done via a Fund Our Future campaign. It has been led by a group of RCN student members and they are calling for a large and significant investment. The amount they are calling for is at least £1 billion and this is to try and fund higher education. It is their goal to try and get more people to become nurses, and if this happens then it could certainly help with the situation that is happening right now. Donna has stated that it is good to see that the thinktanks are echoing the argument and that the nursing supply cannot increase until new funding is given. This funding should be given to nurses who are postgraduates and undergraduates.

RCN is welcoming a brand-new indemnity scheme that is being state-backed. This will automatically provide cover to all of the nurses who are working under the NHS GP service. The clinical negligence scheme is going to give help to the General Practice and this is being operated by the NHS Resolution. This is going to provide a good level of indemnity cover to those who need it. From the 1st of April, the staff who are working in any kind of GP practice will provide GP services to NHS patients as usual, but the only difference is that they will be covered for it. Nursing staff do not need to make payments for the scheme and they don’t need to register either.

The new scheme is really going to make those who work in a nurse agency better off and it will also help those who work in a nursing recruitment agency. The best thing about the scheme is that it is going to cover negligence liabilities and it will also help those who have been forced to make a claim in the past. Over the years, the RCN team have been forced to try and support members who work in GP practices. The RCN has actually heard from both members and even non-members in the past and some GPS have told them that they will no longer be purchasing this type of cover. Of course, as the state backed cover is only for those who have worked with NHS in the past. The manager is calling for changes like this to happen and quite rightly so. It will help to protect workers and it will also help those who really do need it the most. Of course, only time will tell.

Action by various RCN members could help to secure an end to the workforce crisis. This is going to be affecting various healthcare services in England. Of course, when the plan was published earlier in this year, the College chose to welcome the ambitious direction. They have also stated that in order to deliver the plan, there needs to be a high level of accountability. They need to make sure that there are enough staff to try and meet the needs of the population.

The NHS England and even the NHS Improvement are now seeking views to try and change the legislation. They want to deliver the plan that they have promised and they also want to try and demand the right changes to the proposals. This will help to try and tackle the workforce crisis and it is also going to help people to get the support that they need. Those who work as part of a nurse agency or even those who have experience in a nursing recruitment agency will know how much of an impact this could have on careers and the current workforce crisis.

The RCN has stated that the healthcare secretary should be more than accountable and that they should also be able to supply the health and care staff with the support that they need. Of course, the clinical commissioning groups should also have a legal obligation to try and understand the needs of those who are in the local area. They should also try and hold corporate accountability when it comes to any workforce decisions too, and this is a huge deal to say the least. A lot of people believe that they need to make their voices heard regarding this important matter.

The RCN has joined up with the Royal College of Physicians in an attempt to try and support the Daily Telegraph campaign. They want to try and protect children from using any form of social media. The campaign calls on social media to try and sign up to a certain duty of care. This will really force them to do more to stop grooming, suicide and self-harm. They are also going to work hard to try and protect them from seeing images regarding body issues. Fiona Smith is the lead for the nursing and young people agency. She has stated that the campaign is going to call for a slice of the company profits to be invested and that these are going to be used to try and protect children and their mental health.

Fiona Smith has stated that she believes duties of child care exist in the offline world, and therefore they exist in the online world too. It doesn’t matter whether it is grooming, violence, bullying or anything else of the sort because social media firms need to understand that there are millions of pounds worth of profit that comes from responsibility and that children need to be kept safe when on an online platform.

This is great news because children do need a high level of protection when they use the internet. If you do go through a nursing recruitment agency, then there is a high chance that you will have heard of this in the past. Those who are part of a nurse agency may also see changes being made to try and help those who need it the most, so this is an important factor that you need to keep in consideration going forward.
